A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
